THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD

The word of God is living and powerful.  Hebrews 4: 12

A couple of years ago as I was seated in a church waiting to share God?s word I sensed that the Lord was grieved over something, the Spirit of God immediately spoke to me and said, ?My son I?m grieved because my children do not know the fullest potential of my word.

? How true is this fact! Many who proclaim to be God?s children are ignorant of the power contained in God?s word; they are oblivious of the life it imparts!

So shall my word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55: 11

God?s word has the power to accomplish what it was sent to do. It does not need the help of anything external to fulfill God?s intention with which it was sent. Man has always been astounded by the scenic beauty of the world around him. Photographers and artists have never failed to impress us with their works on nature, and God brought this beautiful world into existence just by His words. He spoke and it came into existence.

Then God said, ?Let there be light?; and there was light. Genesis 1: 3

Darkness was covering the earth which was formless and void. God appeared on the scene and spoke into the darkness saying, ?Let there be light.? The moment God?s word left His mouth and entered the realm of the world there was light, instantly.

Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth. Genesis 1:16, 17

God made the sun, the source of light much later after light appeared. What was the source of that light? It was God?s word; the word that God spoke became the source of light. God?s word will never go void, it does not matter what the situation is.

Then Mary said, ?Let it be to me according to your word.? Luke 1: 38

This is a beautiful portion in scripture. The angel Gabriel visits a virgin, Mary and says that she will conceive and give birth to a son and that she should call His name Jesus. Mary was perplexed and asks the angel how it would be possible since she never knew a man intimately. Gabriel, the angel told her that she would conceive by the supernatural power of God, the Holy Spirit. Mary responded by saying, ?Let it be to me according to your word.?  Mary received the word of God from Gabriel. The Spirit of God was released upon Mary?s life through the Word of God.

You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. John 15: 3

Many years ago in the United States of America there was a wonderful family. The grandpa used to read the bible all the time. The little grandson became so fascinated by his grandpa?s passion to read the bible and decided to read it too! So the next day when his grandpa sat down with his bible to read, the little boy sat next to him with another bible and started to read. But there was one problem for him. The little boy did not seem to understand anything at all. Finally after two full days of failing to understand what he was reading the little boy asked his grandpa how he was able to read it when he was not able to understand it at all.

The grandpa assured him that he will explain everything but asked him for a favor before they sat down together. The grandpa asked his grandson to empty the coals from the coal basket into the fire that was keeping the room warm and asked him to fetch a basket of water from the river nearby. The little boy was happy to help. He emptied the basket and went to the river and tried carrying water in the basket, but the water ran out. So he hurried home and told his grandpa that he was not able to fetch water in that basket. The grandpa told him that if he ran fast he could get home with the water in the basket. The little boy went to the river and dipped the basket into the river and lifted it up with water and ran as fast as he could but alas! when he reached home the basket was empty again. So he told his grandpa that he would get a bucket to fetch some water but his grandpa insisted that he bring it in the basket and told that he had to run faster. The little boy reluctantly went but this time he ran the fastest he could but the basket was empty again. So he looked at his grandpa and told him, ?Did I not tell you that this basket will not hold water?? and he was about to keep it on the floor and that is when he realized that there was something different in the way the basket looked. The basket was clean and there was no trace of any coal in it.

The word of God cleanses us from within. Many tell me that they do not understand what they read in the bible and therefore are going to quit reading it. You may not instantly understand all the passages of the scripture you read but keep reading because there is a deep work happening inside you. Ask the Holy Spirit, the author of the Bible to explain the passages you do not understand and He will gladly do it.

Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You. Psalm 119:11

The secret to overcome sin is to fill your heart with scriptures. The word of God strengthens the spirit of man. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. It is imperative that you guard your heart for out of it flow the issues of life. When your heart is filled and overflowing with the word of God, your words and actions are under the influence of the truth of the word of God.

Precious friend therefore, let us determine to spend more time reading and meditating God?s word on a daily basis. Peace, prosperity and health will be your portion when you esteem God?s word more than anything else in this world.

The threshing floors shall be full of wheat and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. Joel 2: 24

God moves in seasons! Every time God's people rebelled and turned their backs on God His presence moved away and their enemies overpowered them destro....
