I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.   Ezekiel 22: 30

God is not looking for religious activity in your life.  He?s looking for individuals who will long to fellowship with Him and for those who are hungry for the power of God to be poured out upon a lost, hurting and dying world.

E.M. Bounds one of the most prolific and passionate writers on the subject of prayer, said this:

Prayer is a wonderful power placed by the Almighty God in the hands of His saints, which may be used to accomplish great purposes and to achieve unusual results. Prayer reaches to everything, takes in all things great and small, which are promised by God to the children of men.

The progress and growth of India is a direct result of the fervent prayers of the saints of God. Never make a mistake; the church has BIRTHED the prosperity of India. It is indeed strange to the human mind and understanding but is the truth. The eternal destiny of every Indian is in your hands. The blessing of any nation, community, family or individuals is in the hands of the praying people. Therefore it is very essential that we learn the secrets to praying effectively from the word of God, the Bible.

?I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one?? Ezekiel 22: 30

God talks about intercession in the above passage of scripture. Intercessory prayer is the most effective form of prayer. Therefore, what is intercession? Intercessory prayer is sacrificial prayer. It focuses less on you and more on others.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10: 4, 5

If intercession can be compared to a house with many rooms, then spiritual warfare can be compared to one of the rooms inside the house. Yes! Intercession involves spiritual warfare. The battles in life cannot be conquered using carnal weapons. Rather every battle in life is won on the knees! Satan and his cohorts become powerless before an intercessor; for the weapons we use have divine power to demolish strongholds, arguments and pretensions that set themselves up against the knowledge of God. The course of history of any nation is within the power of an intercessor to change. You have the power to rescue your children through intercession. You can pray them into the will of God. All that God is and has is at the disposal of a man or woman who prays. No power of hell can withstand the person who knows how to pray.

    Praying With The Promises:

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1John 5: 14

The greatest secret to getting answers to your prayers, including intercessory prayers, comes through the understanding the power of praying with the promises of God. In the city of Chennai in South India there was a highly ranked government official, he was a very good friend of a leading evangelist residing in the city and whom God mightily used. The government official had a beautiful little daughter. One day she was playing with her little chick on the balcony in the fourth floor of her house. The little chick walked off the window sill and fell. Since its wings had not developed it could not fly; it fell to the ground and died pathetically. The little girl was heart broken. No one could comfort her or stop her from crying. Finally, in the evening her daddy came home and the moment she saw him she ran to him, hugged him, sobbed and wept her heart out. The daddy finally said that they were to attend the gospel meeting in which his evangelist friend would be talking that evening. He promised to get his little girl a new chick the next day.

They went as a family to the meeting. They heard the word of God being preached and the time for prayer approached in the end. The evangelist said, ?The Lord Jesus has said I will do whatever you ask in my name. (John14:13)? He further said,? Therefore ask God whatever you desire is and He will give it to you.? Each one in the crowd was lost in prayer but there arose a small commotion around this little girl. The reason was this - she had brought the dead chick in a bag to the meeting without anybody?s knowledge; when the evangelist encouraged the people to ask God what they desired, she put her little hands into her bag and cried out saying,? Jesus he says whatever we ask you will give it, therefore give life to my chick once again.? What a surprise the chick came back to life; leaped outside the bag and created a great commotion.

God never disregarded the prayer of the little girl. Your prayer may not mean anything to others; they may only see your cries fit to be mocked at but God will never turn His face away from your tears. Do not worry He will answer each on of your requests. You can corner God using His promises. It is indeed a weird expression but I like to say it that way. God has to answer your prayers when you go to Him with His word.

?It is the strength and not the length of your prayer that brings an answer to your prayers; and the strength of prayer lies in your faith in the promise which you pleaded before the Lord.? - Charles H. Spurgeon.

Look up the bible to know what God has said about the situation you are going through and use those promises when you pray.

Praying In The Name Of Jesus:

At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord? Philippians 2: 10, 11.

The following is a true incident that happened in one of the hamlets in North India. Two elderly ladies approximately 90 years old in a particular hamlet in north India accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal saviour through one of the missionaries who had come to their hamlet. The witchdoctor who held the village in his sway under the guise of a god man came to know of their salvation. The next day when these ladies were returning back to the village from the river with their water pots on their heads, the witchdoctor obstructed them and took them into his hut. He asked them to renounce their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There was a huge rusted spring in his hut, he pressed it and released it, and the spring hit the roof and came back. He looked at the helpless old ladies and threatened to make them jump up and down repeatedly using his evil powers as he did with the old rusted spring, if they did not oblige him. Those old ladies were overcome with fear and were trembling. They held each other?s hands; closed their eyes and started singing a song in Hindi, the missionary had taught them; the song is:

He is Lord; He is Lord

He has risen from the dead and He is Lord

Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess

That Jesus Christ is the Lord.

Their singing began as a mere whisper, but they soon forgot themselves and started signing boldly with all their strength and the whole place started echoing their voices. They came back to their senses hearing the voice of the witchdoctor screaming on top of his lungs, ?help me; help me?. When they opened their eyes they saw the witchdoctor jumping up and down like the old rusted spring by the supernatural power of God.

The name of Jesus is ours to use. The name of Jesus is a representation of Jesus himself. The power of Jesus is made available to you when you use the name of Jesus. No power of hell can stop you from receiving answers to your prayers. Every problem has to bow its knee and give way for God?s glory to be manifest in your life when you pray in the name of Jesus.

The Lord himself has said,

?You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.? John 14: 14.

Therefore let us be bold to use the name of Jesus in our prayers. Let us allow the Spirit of God to transcend us into the deeper realms of prayer in the coming days.

You have turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy?Psalm 30:11

The Lord will turn all your sorrows into joy as you intercede for others; as you move into a deeper realm of prayer. Each one of you is very important in the kingdom of God. Never underestimate yourself. God takes ordinary people, people without talents or abilities and uses them mightily for His glory. God is not looking for golden vessels He is looking for yielded vessels. Therefore, surrender your life into God?s hands today and He will do great things through your life.
